Cleaning

“Clean (keep formatting)” removes invisible AI codes while keeping bold, italics, links and lists. “Plain text only” returns pure text without any formatting. If you clicked the wrong one, simply click the other button. This works as long as you have not pressed “Clear fields”.

Also remove suspicious number codes (“KI: 123”, “ID: 123”, “[12345]” and digit runs of 8 or more). Note: this also hits long numbers without spaces, such as phone numbers.

What is meant by AI watermarks in text?

The terms "AI watermark" or "ChatGPT watermark" are commonly used for any invisible or unnecessary extra information that comes along when you copy content from ChatGPT or other AI tools. In most cases these are not watermarks in the traditional sense, but technical leftovers from the chat interface.

Typical forms

Invisible Unicode characters: zero-width spaces (ZWSP), zero-width joiners, soft hyphens or the byte order mark. They can break your layout or your search-and-replace.
Special spaces: non-breaking spaces and narrow spaces that look like normal spaces but behave differently.
HTML attributes: tags such as data-start, data-end or data-path-to-node.

These elements come from the internal structure of the ChatGPT editor and serve no purpose in a finished text. An AI watermark remover gets rid of them completely.
